Mickey with Heart and Soul

Spring News - Sept 2008
The rain can slow down now!  The three new foals and one new heifer calf and a bull calf are getting very muddy, making photo opportunities difficult.
Two foals and a heifer were born in my absence overseas on a wonderful holiday to summery Canada this August.  I went to a family wedding and an exciting course on Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy!  More on that later; some of my herd don't know it yet, but they will soon be in training as therapists.
The new foals are two little boys, a cute chestnut out of CF Rhapsody by Bond Kid Gloves CF Heartbreaker, and a gorgeous palomino pinto out of CF Ivory Acclaim by Fairyland King of Hearts, CF Prince of Hearts - a stunner.  And another stunner, a buckskin pinto filly out BV Cosmic Smoke by Fairyland King of Hearts, CF Heart and Soul.
As you can guess, this season their names are based on a 'Hearts' theme.
The SALES PAGE has been updated with a number of changes, although new photos are awaiting drier weather.

The accompanying photos are, top left to right, CF Diva, rising 3 yrs, CF Handels Fire, WWOOFs Nina rescuing a duckling, and Charlie driving CF Triumph.  Then down the left the new babies and down the right, babies from 2007.  The only ones still here are Chemise, Coaty, ELeGant (not shown) and Tippet.   All are growing beautifully and all have discovered a love of apple sauce from a syringe.  Makes worming with paste an easy job!
Cottage guests are booking the holidays right up to Christmas, with only a few dates left.  That page has been updated, as has the Dexter pages.

Welcome to Chamel Fields - home of the 'ADOPT A HORSE HOLIDAY'
Chamel Fields delights in sharing with guests the fun involved in breeding gorgeous little horses and cattle, caring for various chooks and ducks and delightful Yanthe, the donkey, now 40 yrs, and still rattling the windows with her braying, as well as gracious three legged Great Dane 'Chloe', bossy little black poodle 'Lucy' and gregarious puss, 'Key Cat' who lies when he tells you he is allowed in the cottage.
Adopting a miniature horse,
(or a donkey, cow, dog, cat or chicken - it's all been done!) is a big feature of the holiday opportunity at Chamel Fields, and guests can get as involved as age and interest determines.  The adoption may simply involve calling a horse 'yours', right up to feeding, grooming, training and taking your horse through the trail events. Some older girls have even slept out in the stables with theirs!  If you are very lucky you may even get to be at the birth of a new baby.
Or you can simply come for a quiet retreat, a country wander or a quiet weekend on the farm, using Chamel Fields as a base from which to explore the local wineries, Mt Compass Food Trail, Kyeema National Park, Kuitpo Forest, McLaren Vale eateries, or go over to Strathalbyn and feed the ducks, or down south to enjoy Victor Harbor and Goolwa just a 1/2 hour away.  Or make your way down to the beach at Aldinga, 20 minutes west of here.
When you arrive, you will be greeted by Chloe, Lucy and probably Key Cat, all user friendly. (below).  Key will insist it is his duty to investigate your car and escort you to the cottage!  Aged 'Pincati' is around somewhere, but prefers to be reclusive, as she is now nearly blind.

For former guests, I am happy to report that Chloe, who lost a front leg to cancer over 3 years ago, is going well and is still able to gallop up into the paddock to be loved and chewed by her friend, 'Triumph', and loves cuddles from her buddy KeyCat, seen below as a kitten.  And we mustn't forget Lucy showing off her new licence!
