Farm Activities
For those who prefer to stay on the property, Chamel Fields has
about 30 miniature horses, from newborns to adult, most of whom are
equine delights. Children (and adults) who are interested, can adopt a
horse of their choice for the time of their stay and can groom, feed,
lead, and play with it, or just call it their own for a few days.
Feeding the animals morning and evening and feeding the chickens and
collecting the eggs are proving a popular activity for all. |

Look
below for photos sent by previous guests and visitors. They do have fun with the horses,
especially kids from 6-60! And the dog does too. |

For the serious riders who have their own horses, we
have a BYO horse arrangement and have a specially built holding yard with shelter. There
are 40 km of riding trails just across the road in the Kuitpo Forest!
The minis are too small to ride, but are learning to pull carriage.
The cows and calves are friendly, and they love hay and carrots, but
don't do cuddles as
well. Watching their carrot grabbing tongues sends a lot of guests
into hilarious laughter, though. |
For exhausted parents, there is a substantial
library and a couple of quiet corners for a good read while the children are busy
playing with
their horses. There is also a sand box and a farm swing at the side of the cottage.
The parking area is flat, and safe for trikes.
Honeymooners and those wanting a romantic weekend will find the cottage a
delightful, quiet and cosy hideaway.
