Regional Activities
Try your hand at trout fishing or blueberry or strawberry picking at Mt Compass, golf at
several friendly and excellent local golf courses or bird watch from the patio.
Visit numerous craft centres and museums around Prospect Hill and Meadows, McLaren Vale, Mt
Compass or the pretty town of Strathalbyn. There are also plant nurseries in the
district:- trees, roses, and irises. The coastal beaches are just 30 minutes west. The
famous Warrawong Wildlife Sanctuary is 30 minutes inland, and the
equally famous Victor Harbor is
only 35 min south of here. Lastly, don't forget the Southern Vales Wineries!
The Barossa may be more widely known, but the wines from the Southern
Vales are second to none!
Locally, there are many quiet country lanes to stroll and they may help you recall the quiet
country life of yesteryear or you can walk through the Kyeema National Park and Kuitpo
Forest section of the Heysen Trail which wanders past the property just across the road
and up the hill. Return home from your day and enjoy a hot spa under the stars. |

Chamel Fields and environs is a birdwatcher's delight. Our garden supports several superb
Blue Wren and Red Robin families, rosellas freeload in the chicken yard,
white and black cockatoos, galahs and
kookaburras fly by and hawks and wedgetailed eagles hover overhead while ibis,
crane, wild ducks and herons stalk the waterways and magpies chortle in
the trees. The Southern Vales Wineries (all 45
or more of them!) and the
excellent restaurants of McLaren Vale are just down the hill. Don't forget to pick up a
couple of bottles of your favourite drop to enjoy on your visit here. The excellent
local restaurants deserve your serious consideration too. |
